23 October 2025 – Discovering Prague can be playful. From Friday, selected Prague City Tourism information centres will once again show how enjoyable exploring the city can be as they take part in Tourist Information Centre Week 2025, a nationwide event organised by the Association of Tourist Information Centres of the Czech Republic. From 24 to 29 October, visitors can collect themed quizzes at the Old Town Hall, Na Můstku, Prague Castle, or the Petřín Observation Tower, set off to explore the capital, and claim a prize. “We’re looking forward to welcoming everyone – individuals, families with children, and groups. The idea behind this event is to highlight the role of information centres, their wide-ranging activities, and the fact that they allow visitors to discover Prague from a fresh point of view,” says Barbora Plodrová, head of Prague City Tourism’s information centres, which currently operate six locations. “To put this in perspective, last year our centres welcomed over 1.2 million visitors, and our staff fielded more than 1,435,000 enquiries,” she adds. Tourist Information Centre Week commemorates World Development Information Day, proclaimed by the United Nations in 1972 and observed each year on 24 October. This will be the sixth time that Prague is taking part. For this year’s event, two themed walking routes have been prepared. After collecting a quiz and a map at any information centre, visitors can either stroll through the streets of the Old Town or take a longer route between Prague Castle and the Petřín Observation Tower. “A good eye for detail will come in handy during the quiz, though our staff are always ready to help with hints where needed. Successful participants can look forward to vouchers for entry to the Powder Tower, the Petřín Observation Tower, or the Mirror Maze,” explains Plodrová. Visitors can also join in the celebrations by sharing their photos on Facebook. Winners will receive prizes such as a private tour of the Old Town Hall or the Petřín Observation Tower, a complete set of illustrated Prague maps, or a designer travel mug. Throughout the week, visitors will also have the opportunity to support the Czech Breast Cancer Alliance by purchasing a pink designer pin.
