Prague, 17 September 2025 – The borough of Prague 1, together with Prague City Tourism, is rolling out a new awareness campaign featuring advisory leaflets aimed primarily at visitors to the capital. The goal is to improve daily life for local people while keeping the historical centre’s atmosphere enjoyable for everyone, whether they call Prague home or are here as guests. The campaign reminds visitors of the need to respect night-time quiet in residential neighbourhoods, promotes the safe and lawful use of electric scooters, addresses unlicensed guides, and calls for compliance with the ban on drinking alcohol in public spaces where it is prohibited by ordinance. Advisory leaflets, now available in places such as Dlouhá Street and around the Old Town Square, are part of the long-term Enjoy Respect Prague campaign, which sets out ten simple guidelines reminding visitors that Prague is, first and foremost, a place where people live. It also features short videos encouraging visitors to respect night-time quiet, use official guides, treat historic landmarks with care, and discover the city sustainably – on foot or by public transport. It also asks tourists to help protect animal welfare by steering clear of touts illegally offering to take pictures of them with exotic animals in the city centre. “Prague 1 is where everyday life meets heavy tourist traffic. We have a duty to protect the quality of life of the people who live here, while making sure visitors feel welcome and safe. This campaign is here to remind everyone of the basic courtesies that make the city centre a better place for all of us,” says Terezie Radoměřská, the mayor of Prague 1. “We want tourists and residents to be able to share the same space with respect and consideration. That’s what guides all our work. Prague is, above all, a city for its residents, and we want them to enjoy living here. This is why we’ve prepared these ten guidelines, which visitors will now see on leaflets in selected streets in the historical centre,” adds Jana Adamcová, vice-chair of the Prague City Tourism board.
