Astronomical Clock gets digital twin thanks to groundbreaking research 4 December 2025, Prague – Prague visitors and residents can now look straight into the heart of one of the world’s most remarkable technical monuments: the Astronomical Clock on the Old Town Hall – the oldest clock of its type still in operation. It now has a newly created digital counterpart that has just been opened to the public. From 5 December, a digital 3D model of the clock will be on display in the Knight’s Hall of the Old Town Hall. “Old Town Astronomical Clock Digitalisation” was a project carried out between the CESNET association, Prague City Tourism, and the company st.dio. 08. december 2025 Playing Prague launches its winter edition, now available in seven world languages 3 December 2025, Prague – In the run-up to Christmas, Prague City Tourism and the game studio Charles Games have prepared a gift for everyone who loves Prague and for all players of the successful mobile game Playing Prague. Just as the city becomes cloaked in a winter atmosphere, the game itself is taking on a winter look. Players can now wander through snow-covered Prague directly on their phones. This has also been an opportunity for Playing Prague to expand with seven new language versions, allowing the game to reach even more international visitors. 08. december 2025 Ice rink to open on Wenceslas Square on 1 December. Residents skate for free 27 November 2025, Prague – For the third year running, an ice rink will add to the Christmas atmosphere in the very heart of Prague. From 1 December, the day of the official opening, the rink will be open to the public right through to mid-February. Residents and primary schools from Prague 1 can skate free of charge. The opening will also feature a figure-skating performance and the chance to win tickets to the World Figure Skating Championships in Prague. 03. december 2025 Prague welcomes over six million visitors in the first three quarters of 2025 Prague, 7 November 2025 – According to the Czech Statistical Office, Prague welcomed 6,032,136 visitors between January and September this year, a year-on-year increase of 2%. The largest numbers of foreign guests came from Germany, the United States, and the United Kingdom, while domestic toutists have consistently accounted for around one fifth of all visitors in recent years. Tourist numbers from Asia are growing rapidly, fuelled by new direct flight connections. At the same time, new travel trends are emerging: visitors are increasingly seeking premium services and genuine, local experiences. 11. november 2025 Playing Prague, the game accompanying this year’s marketing campaigns, wins prestigious CEEGA Award for Best Mobile Game 30 October 2025 – Playing Prague, the mobile game developed for Prague City Tourism by independent studio Charles Games, has won a prestigious CEEGA (Central and Eastern European Game Award) for 2025 Best Mobile Game of the Year. Presented at the Game Industry Conference in Poznań, the award recognises a game dedicated to Prague’s history and landmarks that has already been downloaded by nearly 80,000 users and is set to be expanded. 04. november 2025 Entrance and plinth of St Nicholas Bell Tower restored 21 October 2025 – Prague City Tourism is continuing its programme to revitalise Prague’s historic towers. The latest project has resulted in the repair of the plinth at the St Nicholas Bell Tower. The five-month restoration work followed on from last year’s renovation of the entrance portal, meaning the tower now boasts both a renewed doorway and a refurbished stone plinth framing it. The total cost of the project was CZK 800,000. 04. november 2025 Prague City Tourism information centres celebrate TIC Week with quizzes, a photo competition, and attractive prizes 23 October 2025 – Discovering Prague can be playful. From Friday, selected Prague City Tourism information centres will once again show how enjoyable exploring the city can be as they take part in Tourist Information Centre Week 2025, a nationwide event organised by the Association of Tourist Information Centres of the Czech Republic. From 24 to 29 October, visitors can collect themed quizzes at the Old Town Hall, Na Můstku, Prague Castle, or the Petřín Observation Tower, set off to explore the capital, and claim a prize. 04. november 2025 Prague 1 and Prague City Tourism launch campaign to make city centre calmer and safer Prague, 17 September 2025 – The borough of Prague 1, together with Prague City Tourism, is rolling out a new awareness campaign featuring advisory leaflets aimed primarily at visitors to the capital. The goal is to improve daily life for local people while keeping the historical centre’s atmosphere enjoyable for everyone, whether they call Prague home or are here as guests. 19. september 2025 Prague launches “City of Secrets” campaign inspired by Dan Brown’s new novel Prague, 9 September 2025 – Prague City Tourism is marking the release of Dan Brown’s The Secret of Secrets with a long-term campaign that includes themed guided walks, a special souvenir collection, and a digital marketing drive. The exclusive “Dan Brown’s Prague” walks, created for Czech and international visitors, begin this Friday and take in sites such as the Clementinum, the Old-New Synagogue, Folimanka Park, and the Crucifix Bastion – all featured in the book. 12. september 2025 Prague reports almost 3.8 million visitors in the first half of 2025 8 August 2025 – According to the Czech Statistical Office, 3,780,133 people visited Prague in the first half of 2025, a modest 3% increase on the same period last year. The largest numbers of foreign visitors were from Germany (464,339; down 7% year on year), the United Kingdom (240,501; up 15%), and the United States (208,692; up 5%), with the number of tourists from Asia continuing to grow. New long-haul air connections to Prague are attracting affluent travellers seeking high-quality, luxury services. Czech visitors traditionally account for one fifth of the total. 12. august 2025 Vintage tram line 42 to run more frequently over the summer holidays 26 June 2025 – From this Saturday, vintage tram line 42, operated by Prague City Tourism in partnership with Prague Public Transit Company, is increasing its service for the next two months, cutting its current 40-minute intervals to 30 minutes. That means five extra circuits of the city every day, just in time to meet growing demand. 07. july 2025 Prague launches online campaign “Enjoy Respect Prague” Prague, 25 June 2025 – As the summer tourist season starts to heat up, the city is launching an online campaign aimed at inbound visitors. Enjoy Respect Prague is an educational initiative encouraging respectful and sustainable tourism. In a series of short videos, Prague City Tourism introduces a friendly set of ten suggestions to help visitors make the most of their stay in Prague while showing respect for the city’s rich heritage, local culture, and community. 30. june 2025 Prague City Tourism to restore plinth of St Nicholas Bell Tower Prague, 18 June 2025 – Prague is continuing its efforts to preserve its historic heritage, with restoration works now under way in Malá Strana on the plinth (the exterior section surrounding the entrance portal) of the St Nicholas Bell Tower. The project, continuing the restoration work begun last year on the bell tower’s entrance portal, is expected to take about three months. The monument will remain open throughout, and visitors can continue to explore the interior and enjoy the views from the tower gallery. 23. june 2025 This year’s tourism marketing campaigns pay tribute to gaming Prague, 11 June 2025 – At the heart of this year’s brand campaigns for Prague.eu and V Praze jako doma (At Home in Prague) is an original digital game: Playing Prague. Created by the independent studio Charles Games for Prague City Tourism, the game celebrates the city’s talents, innovation, and vibrant gaming culture. It’s a challenge for seasoned puzzle enthusiasts and casual players alike. Each level highlights a different borough, with increasing difficulty and familiar landmarks gradually revealing the joy of discovering Prague in the real world. 16. june 2025 Prague commemorates the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War and the Prague Uprising Prague, 5 May 2025 – Prague City Tourism has curated a series of public events to commemorate a pivotal moment in history: the end of the Second World War and the Prague Uprising. As part of the Experience Prague and Prague Heritage programmes, the company is offering a range of guided walks and lectures exploring the city’s wartime past. From 6 May, visitors will be able to view a remarkable replica of the destroyed Old Town Bell – one of the oldest bells in Prague – on display on the ground floor of the Old Town Hall. The bell has been reconstructed by the Museum of Prague Museum. 28. may 2025 Prague stories come to life in a comic by Štěpán Mareš. Tourists can buy them as an original gift from Prague Prague, 26 March 2025 – The Mysterious Golem, The White Unicorn of Science and Kafka’s Prague, the Mother with Claws – these are the titles of new comics that Prague City Tourism is offering as souvenirs from our metropolis. It has approached the renowned illustrator and comics author Štěpán Mareš to collaborate. So far they have appeared on the shelves of the original souvenir shop on the ground floor of the Old Town Hall in Czech; versions in other languages will soon follow. 16. april 2025 Prague launches new tourist season: extends opening hours of Prague towers, opens up new spaces and provides with new themed walks Prague, 31 March 2025 – Prague City Tourism is prepared for the new tourist season and the arrival of domestic and foreign visitors. With the arrival of warm weather, it is extending the opening hours of Prague’s towers, preparing for the celebrations of the end of the Second World War and providing new types of walks for the public. 16. april 2025 Prague is ready for the World EXPO in Osaka, and will offer a special website in Japanese Prague, 9 April 2025 – The Czech pavilion at the EXPO 2025 World Exhibition in Osaka will open on 13 April.
